Shierlyne's sister Stephanie (Noni) also tagged along with us, so it seemed like a fun idea to include her in the photos and as it turned out it is.

Easy T/S effect

Stumbled on this site http://tiltshiftmaker.com/ which can turn your normal photos into T/S photos :)

It is fun and addictive. But still nothing could beat the real T/S lens. I think personally the blur is a bit thick (think Gaussian Blur in PS), unlike lens blur in the real lens. That being said, it is really close to the real thing and no photoshop needed :D.

When we went back to Jakarta on last November, we got the chance to hop on the B777-300 ER Singapore Airlines. Inside, it was almost look alike the A380 cabin, but still it is more quite in the A380. These planes are also new, I think they are also delivered in 2007.

Overall experience : priceless :)

It is Wednesday afternoon and frankly I don't feel like working. Too bored :(

Looking at photos below make me wanna go holiday again to Bali :)

Above, 2 boring landscape photos taken with 50mm resulting difficulties taking the full view :), guess I have to cope with that.

Below, sate plecing at Denpasar. Really really must try this one if you readers are going to Bali :)

We also had some coffees from Kopi Bali, which is very nice. The shop located on Sanur, on the main road (I forgot the street's name).

Tourists in Bali

Most people agreed Bali economy really depends on its tourism. So they open their doors wide for tourists to come & see and more importantly, to feel the Balinese custom.

Many temples which supposedly for praying to Hindu gods are open for public (tourists), which now can be categorized as tourism object rather than sacred place. I guess you just can't resist capitalism :)

Singapore Changi Airport T3

Yes, it is the all new shiny new T3 (Terminal 3). Most flights departing and arriving are Singapore Airlines, yes all the best and newest for the national carrier of course.

It does feel more like a shopping center than an airport.

I tried a bit of TS effect on this photo below, please tell me if this looks fake or just like the real thing :)

Prisoned Lions

When I was in Bali, I went into this house that sells fantastic pork sausages (they have a small store inside the house, the sausage company called Titiles).

To my surprise, the owner got a rather big cage in his garage and next thing I found out there are LIONS inside.

Wow, I thought how could this guy get some lions and made them his pets? I know it is illegal so the owner definitely have some sort of government connection to keep these lions caged in his own house.

The lions sure look bored as hell and to put them in a cage like that is surely cruel as they used to roam free in jungle ( or zoo :D ).

Red Hot Sky

I never thought Indonesian skyline could be so beautiful, considering level of air polution is quite high. But that really is not the case in Bali. This was taken on Jimbaran Beach where we had dinner on the beach (literally) complete with all table and chair.

Dusk is the perfect moment to go there (around 6PM) because you will see the golden sunset followed by the red sky. It was pretty dramatic and will become romantic if you have dinner as well with your loved ones :)

One Afternoon at Balmoral

Been wanting to go to Balmoral beach but never got the chance to do it, so we went there like a month ago :) As expected, I saw 3 wedding parties doing their photo shoots on the beach. Yes, this area is always full of brides and grooms on the weekend.

The road leading to the beach (Awaba St) is really quite steep and I reckon people can shed some kilos walking uphill twice a day :D

We often go here to get our ramen fix. It is simply the best ramen in Sydney. The soup is very thick and rich of pork goodness. They even made the noodles themselves so it is pretty original.

Went to Manly earlier this month to see the jazz festival, only to find the festival being held under the rain. Even with the rain, there were some respectable amount of crowds attending the event. Still, it was not that convenient watching it as scheduled show eventually got canceled or delayed due to the weather.

Diana's Birthday Dinner at Rise Restaurant

Diana just celebrated her birthday on 4 Oct, so we decided to have dinner with some friends on the 5th of October. The place we choose is Rise Restaurant which serves 7 course Omakase Degustation Menu. It is our first time trying degustation menu except Mark which has been to Tetsuya's and tried their 12 course degustation menu.

The restaurant itself located in Darlinghurst, near Kings Cross (Big Coca Cola sign). It was really pretty hard finding a parking spot, which probably due to the long weekend (Labour Day public holiday).

Something funny happened while we were waiting for the foods to come. I pulled out my SLR camera and started taking photos of the foods & friends. This act in effect get other people (at other tables) pulled out their own SLR too. LOL.

Alright, enough with the story, let's get on with the photos, shall we.

Menu for the day (this can be changing from time to time)

Salad of ocean trout tataki & mango coconut salsa
I tried ocean trout sashimi for the first time and still thinking it was salmon hehehehe. They all really look alike.

Potato cream soup with prawn tempura & tofu
This is by far the most delicious meal of all we had during the 7 course, and we all agreed.

Assorted today’s fresh market sashimi
This meal consist of tuna, salmon sashimis and oyster. Of course, nothing special about this. Pretty common in restaurants.

Steamed baby octpus with 'ume' plum sauce, Tuna tartare on gari sushi roll, Duck and bamboo shoot with "Hoisin" sauce

Steamed scallop, mung bean noodle & ginger shallot sauce
I didn't mix the noodle and sauce so when I eat the noodle, it felt really bland. Something wrong, but others find out we have to mix it so really the taste is not that bad hehehe. ( I forgot how it tastes though, probably similar to some soy sauce).

Chicken roulade tempura with pumpkin puree & soy ginger sauce
This came as the main meal, with a surprise. They gave us a bowl of rice to have with this meal. We couldn't help but assuming this is so asian. Everything needs to be eaten with rice. Hehehe. Why is that? I thought it is nice enough to eat this on its own. Personally I am quite disappointed as I found the taste is rather bland. Could do more with some sauce :)

Overall, it was a nice dining experience. We ended up getting more food that night (at 1 AM - went to East Ocean to have very very late dinner yumcha), since the food portion is not that big at Rise.

Cloudy Labour Day

Last Monday, we went to Fish Market and Bondi Beach since it is a public holiday and we feel like having some seafood and went to beach as well. It turned out not so sunny as clouds were gathering in the afternoon, there was a bit of rain too.

Nevertheless, it was a good way to end long weekend having dinner at Hurricane's Bondi. See our future post at my personal blog.

Canberra Trip - Cockington Green Garden

Just before we all went to see Floriade, we managed to go to Cockington for 1.5 - 2 hours. It is a garden with all miniature stuffs and you have to pay $15 entry fee.

I trusted Diana to use my 30D, see her working the camera. Nice one!

There is a miniature football field featuring Newcastle United versus some team.

In the international garden section, there are lots of miniatures featuring buildings from around the world, including Indonesia too ( Candi Borobudur ). How cool is that?

Canberra Trip - Part 3

I will now post various photos from my trip to Canberra. As you can see, I didn't spend all day at Floriade (which is boring), but also went to some parts of the city.

We went to Parkes Place, which is located in between the Parliament House and War Memorial, this place got a magnificent park with its little white flowers and it is besides Lake Burley Griffin, perfect for unwind or relaxing.

This year's Floriade show is not as good as the year before.

Shooting my first wedding ever

This coming Saturday 27/09/08, I have a chance to shoot a wedding with Foto Expression.

It is the main photographer brother's (Wiki's brother - Wilson) wedding so you know the pressure is there and I will have to push for every effort to be the best.

I am really looking forward to this assignment and very thankful to Wiki for giving me chance to develop my skill especially in wedding photography.

PSS : Went to Canberra last weekend (20/9/08) to see Floriade but this year's show is not that good, luckily we also went to Cockington Green Garden where the miniature stuffs are on display and exploring the sides of Lake Burley (between War Memorial and Parliament House). Self e-session @ Watson's Bay

I always dream someday someone would come to me to do their e-session. Unfortunately, that does not happen yet. So, what better way to do e-session other than to myself? Hahaha. Yes , it's a bit shameless but really it is a lot of fun.

I tried doing it by using the camera self timer and put the camera on a warning sign. Focus can be hit and miss especially when using the 50/1.4 lens. Below are the successful attempts. I am just thinking I will have to do this thing at other places as well to get nice backdrops and getting 1 good tripod.

For now there is only 4 photos.

Sydney Skylines from Watsons Bay

We went to Watson's Bay last Saturday 31/8/08. Enjoyed the view and the place although it was cloudy all day. Nevertheless, Sydney skylines are still gorgeous and I think I have done good work on these photos. What do you think? Any comments below are welcome.

Aboard SQ A380 Syd-Sin

This is a backdated post, way back to Nov 2007 when I flew back to Jakarta to get married. We are lucky enough to be on board this big bird after it's introduction into commercial operation a week after the initial maiden flight.

The impression I got is this aircraft is much more quite than B747, more leg room definitely makes the journey more comfy and the video screen is large enough compared to the ones in 747. Too bad when I fly back to Sydney, I did not get on this aircraft again because it was full. So I swear, next time I go back to Indonesia, will reserve the seats on A380 as early as possible :)

Happy Birthday Shierlyne

2 weeks ago on 13 July 08, Shierlyne had her birthday dinner at The Meat & Wine Co and invited several friends. We went there after the Sunday service at GRII Sydney.

Me, Diana and my sister Ellen got Shierlyne a pan grill for cooking steaks and steak knives as well. Well, for the rest, they got her the iPhone, errr ...... almost hehehe ... it's not, but the best thing next to the iPhone which is iPod Touch 16GB !!! Cool !!! We bought the iPod Touch on Saturday (12/07) with Shierlyne as well, but she is not aware that will be her birthday present as I said that I bought the iPod Touch for myself. You just have to see her face filled with surprise and disbelief when she opened the present.

Alright, move on to the photos :

Just got there and started ordering, each of us ordered Wagyu Beef, rib eye for the gals and rump for boys (mainly because rump has more meat hahaha)

While we were waiting for the foods to come (1 hour !!), we got bored and just drawing and writing stuffs on the table, because the table is covered by paper.

After we finished the dinner, come the time to get the cake out and almost all the restaurant crew sing Happy Birthday, complete with the "fire thing"-don't know what it's called. It was a blast !!

Disbelief, just by looking a bit on the opened part ...

I would assume my little trick with Feri worked well coz she seemed amused 100% and not even realized until now that iPod is for her :)

After dinner, we headed back to Shierlyne's apartment to open the other present from us.

Now, she can make her own steaks at home now that all the right equipment is there :)

Melbourne Short Holiday part 9

This will be the last post for my Melbourne holidays so I will put up the last day photos, which is about Melbourne downtown.

First stop is State Library. Only can take photos outside because it wasn't allowed to inside.

Then, off to Fitzroy Garden. I can honestly say it is better than Hyde Park & Royal Botanical Garden in Sydney !!! Trust me on this one, let the photos speak. It's a dull day so sky is a bit washed out in the photos.

After that, we headed back to downtown to meet Diana's friend to have a lunch together.

Lastly, inside photos from the tram. This is the thing I miss, because it is just so practical to hop on and off the trams in the city :)

Melbourne Short Holiday part 8

Here are the photos of Stamford Melbourne Plaza hotel room.

We stayed here for 2 nights and guess what, we got a a one bedroom suite! How cool is that ...

We get this because my sister works at Stamford Airport Sydney, and we use her employee facility :) A one suite bedroom for the price of standard room in the heart of Melbourne ... definitely a bargain :)

Melbourne Short Holiday part 7

As soon as we got to Sovereign Hill, we went straight away to ticket box, costing us $70 to get in. A bit expensive isn't it?

The place is quite big, so Diana made some planning so we could see the good attractions, only to find that we don't have enough time to do it, considering we got there around 1-1.30PM.

There is a gun demonstration by redcoat soldiers, using real gun but empty shells of course.

We took the guided gold mine tour at the end of the day, cost us $10 more. It is quite good and eye opening about how gold mining from the past until now. That "Sorry" sign is about no more people can be included, since the tour is already full.

Melbourne Short Holiday part 6

We went to Ballarat on our second day at Melbourne, using V Line from Spencer St Station, took us around 1.5 hours to get there. V Line trains are quite nice and spacious as well, so long distance journey is comfy.

We arrived there around 1 o'clock (or probably 12.30) and found there was no bus to Sovereign Hill (have to wait 1 hour for the next one). So we went to the nearest Visitor Centre and the lady there told us it can be reached by walking for 30 mins. So off we go by foot. Quite healthy isn't it considering our daily life mostly spent on the chair in front of PC :) Here are some photos of Ballarat on our way to Sovereign Hill.

Melbourne Short Holiday part 5

To continue my last post, after we had the gelato on Il Dolce Freddo, we went to Sofia's Pizza House, we went to the one in Camberwell. Unfortunately no photos were taken during the dinner.

Here is the Camberwell Train Station, taken after we had the dinner.

We headed to Crown Casino but ended up not going in there. We were just walking around in front of it, where there is hourly big fire torched up.

After that, we decided to call the day off and went back to Stamford Hotel. Do not miss out my next post filled with day 2 adventures to Sovereign Hill, Ballarat.

Melbourne Short Holiday part 4

The St Kilda Luna Park was packed with kids (due to long holiday weekend).

We did not go for a ride in it. Just looking around. We found the park is a bit smaller than the one in Sydney. I'd say the one in Sydney is better :) (of course is more expensive as well).

From Luna Park, we went to Lygon St, where there are a lot of Italian restaurants, cafes, pizzeria and ice cream parlor. We went into this gelato shop, Il Dolce Freddo.
They have the best gelato I have ever tasted. We went back the next night on 10PM but unfortunately it was closed. Definitely will have to go back to this place when visiting Melbourne in the future.

Along Lygon St (which might be the equivalent of Leichardt in Sydney)

Diana is picking 4 different taste of gelato. I forgot which tastes, but remember 1 special flavour, which is Durian Flavour!!! NICE !

Last Saturday on 31 May 08, we went to Luna Park. I just felt like to taking photos since I haven't been doing that in the last couple of weeks. So there we are, on a sunny and bright Saturday afternoon.

Overall it is a nice place and we have quite a good time BUT there is one lady (some Luna Park security people) suddenly asking me as why I keep taking photos. I was quite surprised by her because she was saying that if I take pictures for any commercial purpose without any permission, then I will get sued. I said back to her that I was doing this just for fun, I do not have any intention to publish them or do something commercial with the photos. It happened to me once on Easter Show way back on March, when I was taking photos of wood chopping show.

It is quite surprising how people still annoyed (is this the right word) if someone freely taking photos using SLR and think they will do something commercial with the photos, while I think some P&S cameras can do the same thing. What do some people have against SLR?

Let's just leave that problem and without any more complaints about people annoyed by SLR, here are the photos from that day. Enjoy !!

Last weekend 24/5, we went out with our friends Feri, Shierlyne, Sam (shierlyne's brother), and Noni (her sister but not in the photos).
We watched Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on the cinemas, have to say it is a very good movie. After that, we went to Hurricane's Grill which just open up their new restaurant at Darling Harbour eating some pork ribs and end up at whiteapple for some green tea yoghurt.

It's really a blast spending saturday watching good movie and have a great dinner with friends. Thank you guys !!!

Hello, finally I got the chance to write (and post photo) on the blog again.

On Saturday 10 May, my office colleague Rosalin invited the team (Financial Services) to have a barbeque and dinner at her newly renovated home. My initial impression when first saw the house, it was absolutely beautiful, big and looking very very brand new. It is the pinnacle of their hardwork of all these years working so I am really glad for them.

My friend, Christina also came by for a moment with her son Gibson. He is the cutest little boy I ever met. Shy at first sight, as you can see from the photos, he only wants to play with the toys. However, after quite some time, he like any other boys, started roaming the house, running wherever as he like. Too bad I didn't take any photos while he was very active.

Ex SMUK3 2001 Reunion

Some of my high school friends decided to havedinner on Tuesday night 15/4, it was decided to go to Madang Korean Rest, but the it's fully packed and were told if we wanted to wait, it'll be 1 hour. So we all go to restaurant next door (which is Korean restaurant as well).

There is a bit problem for the seating, as we already settled on a long table upstairs, only to be told that table is booked and we have to move to 2 smaller round tables. Nevertheless, it was a very fun night, lots of gossip and it is just very nice to meet old friends.

I think we should do it more often.

On Saturday 5/4/08, Diana and I went to Darling Harbour to see the "Festival Indonesia"", which is held annually, the festival itself is nothing special, there is someone singing on the stage, but only a few people actually listening. Most people come for the foods on sale during the festival, which is actually quite expensive.

I didn't take any photos of the festival but we meet my friends Feri & Shierlyne and they agreed to be my model :) They are quite good, don't you think? This is actually my first time taking potraits of people so there might be some wonky style, please bear with me :)

Royal Easter Show 2008 part 2

Still about the easter show 2008.

We took the train to Olympic Park, where the Royal Easter Show is held

There are many rides and attractions, but I only took some photos

We also have our silhouettes made by the famous S John Ross, according to the newspapers clipping on the stand, he already made silhouettes since 1950s/ 1960s by cutting on a piece of paper and then stick it to a frame. It is very cool stuff !!! Never seen this before, even though he is very old, he is still very skillful in doing this stuff. Here is the stand and Diana is having her silhouette being made.

Royal Easter Show 2008

Last Saturday 29/3, we ( my wife and I ) went to the Easter Show. Nothing special, it is always the same thing being shown every year. I only went there once on 2003 and since Diana never been there, I took her so she knows what it is all about.

She bought a showbag (Moove showbag) so she ended up have to bring those 2 backpacks until we come home ( I also bought a Pepsi showbag, lugged that one too with the camera backpack)

During the easter long weekend, I went to my church camp (this time called Easter Youth Convention) in Dural, NSW.

The place is Vision Valley.

Hello, welcome to my first photo blog.

I will post some of my photos (the good ones) on this blog, mind you that I am new to digital photography so you can assume it won't be as good as anyone else :) , but there is always room for improvement.

Alright, first photo posted - My Own Private Pool !!!

Just kidding. It is actually the private pool of the resort that we ( me and my wife) stayed during the honeymoon. It is a very nice place, I would think it's specially build for those honeymooners :)
